Seven great buys under £100

I am so busy at work these days that my outfit choices are all about stylish comfort. Today I am wearing my J.Crew navy mini skirt with a grey crew neck jumper from Gap and my LK Bennett pointy flats. Admittedly I've been indulging in quite a few expensive items lately, so today I thought I would leave you with an edit of seven of great buys all under £100.00 (OK one is £110 but worth the extra £10 and it's totally in for next season's leafy floral trend!)

Winter white frock

As you can see, I practice what I preach and after much search I decided to invest in the Anna Sui dress I featured last week in my best party dresses post. The dress arrived from Net-a-porter super speedy next day delivery yesterday and I adore it, it's just the cutest little frock and despite it being white I know I will get lots of wear out of it, winter or summer. Last night I wore if to a birthday party and paired it with a pair of old satin red courts, Greta's Monica Vinader rose gold diamond disc earrings and a coat of red lipstick and felt chic and festive!

The WIT Boutique is open!

A few months ago I posted a photo on Instagram of my sitting room that had mometairly become a photo studio. The lovely team at  www.walkinmycloset.com had arrived catalogue  the entire content of my wardrobe for the website and photograph the designer pieces that I ha selected for my WIT Boutique

Here's the first drop of my clothes and accessories on sale, have a peek at it and at the thousands of pre-owned certified designer items on their website. And if you are thinking about doing an early spring clear out  I can highly recommend the Walk in my closet hassle free concierge service, read here for all details. Happy shopping!

That lace skirt

Gap hoodie, Top Shop lurex pencil skirt £30, RB shoes, Other Stories bag
Yesterday I wore a J.Crew lace skirt which I bought two weeks ago which sadly has been so popular that it's sold out. But, I went on a little hunt and found some similar styles in black and blues. A lace skirt is a versatile purchase at this time of the year, give it a day-sporty feel by wearing it with a hoodie like I did yesterday or smarten it up with heel, a cashmere crew neck and a sparkly pair of crystal earrings.

Party frock Monday!

Gap hoodie, J.Crew lace skirt, Dune boots.
Ugh.. it's Monday. But to brighten up our day I thought this week we would look at party wear! Incidentally today I'm wearing a navy lace skirt with a cashmere hoodie, transforming a party item to office wear. But today I want to talk about dresses. Below four favorites: brocade from Top Shop, lace from Joseph, embellishment from MMJ and a little bustier number from DVF. Meanwhile this week's WIT star buys are my absolute three favourite party pieces: the Roksanda dress had sadly sold out in my size, but there are also a green and a pale pink version that would make fabulous, show-stopping party dresses and later in the season, perfect engagement/wedding/Christening numbers. Talking high street I've searched high and low and I LOVE this French Connection 60's style dress which also comes in a gold jacquard fabric print. And finally at number three the perfect winter-white frock, I would wear this with red shoes to get in the festive spirit...

1) 60s Crop Floral Jacquard Dress £65.00
2) Joseph LACE AGNES DRESS  £575.00
3) Marc by Marc Jacobs Kisa embellished crepe and silk-chiffon mini dress £555
4) Diane Von Furstenberg Walker dress £344

WIT's Christmas Gift Guide (for you!)

It's December and that can only mean one thing, Christmas is just days away! To get in the spirit, and also dream a little, I've compiled a WIT Christmas gift guide especially for YOU! Yes because the next 15 gift ideas are all those lovely things that us WIT-girls would love to half but probably wouldn't dare to ask or ever buy for themselves: a bit of monogramming, a forever little piece of jewellery or that mani/pedi voucher that feels like such a treat. Choose your favourite and wish wish wish (or just forward to your other half, I know I will!) perhaps you will find a Tippi sweater under your Christmas tree..

1) STYLISH LUGGAGE - Recently I've been travelling on the plane and thought to myself that I really need a chic tote that I can fill with everything from nappies to passports, throw over my shoulder and go. The ultimate dream would be the extra large Louis Vuitton Neverfull Mon Monogram, it's a classic bag that will never ever go out of style. The best thing is that you can even get it monogrammed with your own initials in whatever colour scheme you like. I had so much fun designing it on the website and although pricey it really is the ultimate bag to travel in style. www.louisvuitton.co.uk

3) SUNGLASSES - I don't know about you but I loose sunglasses like nothing else in my life. I loved my classic Wayfarers (lost somewhere between Rome and Capri this summer) and they were part of my capsule wardrobe of sunglasses. A great pair of sunglasses is always a fabulous gift to give and to receive.  Ray-Ban The Wayfarer acetate sunglasses £120

3) WINTER HAT WITH A TWIST - Every year I get a pair of gloves, a scarf or a hat and despite the fact that I love a bit of cashmere, this year I wish for a winter hat with a twist. I saw this in Liberty and absolutely love it, it's the perfect gift from a bunch of friends to get together and give to a fashiony friend. It's so cute on and just puts a smile on my face! Bernstock Speirs Veil Beanie Hat £85.00 at Liberty London

4) ALPHABET CUSHIONS - I love gifts that you can give year after year, for example to a best friend or even a goddaughter. Alphabet cushions would make the perfect gift, you can spell out someones name, a message or their initials. I love the monochrome graphic print with a touch of colour in the letters. On my dream couch I have an L, an S and a G. Alphabet Cushions Sue Timney £95 at www.therugcompany.com

5) JEWELLERY - If there is one user friendly, gift packed, all budgets, jewellery website it's got to be Astley Clarke. You can search by type, by price, by metal even my husband managed to get me an anniversary gift from it (loved my Eternal Ring). My favourite thing on the website is the Little Muse collection and in particular the pave diamonds earrings: they are super chic and delicate, the sort of thing you could wear everyday. A Little Muse Drop Earrings By Astley Clarke Muse £550.00

6) THE ALL YEAR AROUND SWEATER - You've heard it before, I'm aiming at owning the entire colour collection of the J.Crew Tippi sweater (currently scoring grey, red and pink). This is just such a useful gift because you will wear them with everything, so cost per wear it really pays off. Start with a navy and grey and see how you go and it you can't stretch to the cashmere version, the merino wool is just as good.  J.Crew Collection cashmere Tippi sweater item £188.00

7) WINTER BOOTS - If you are not in the mood to ask for something frivolous, a pair of winter boots are the perfect gift for you. I tried these pair on and they are super flattering on: they have a tiny heel but are as comfortable as flats. They will keep your feet dry and warm in the winter and look great with trousers or with skirts (they cut off on your ankles at a really flattering point). J.Crew Collection Chelsea monk-strap boots £350.00

8) SOMETHING FOR THE HOME - I love the www.grahamandgreen.co.uk  website and trawl on it all the time, you can find everything from cool photo frames to something for the kitchen. I particularly love this three faced mirror, it would look great in my bathroom hanging above my dressing table.. Tri-Fold Wall Hung Mirror £150.00

9) SCENTED CANDLES - Scented candles (a fab selection from SpaceNK) are exactly the kind of gift I adore to receive, I use them all around my house I but would never buy for myself, it's the sort of indulgent buy I can't justify. Weird I know, but true. My new favourite brand is called Ecoya, it's actually more affordable than all time favourites Miller Harris, Jo Malone or Diptyque and the Lotus Flower scent is the loveliest, clean smell you can imagine. Ecoya Lotus Flower / Madison Jar £37.00

10) VOUCHERS FOR MANI AND PEDIS - A mani or a pedi voucher is the ultimate treat and the perfect gift, always. Which girl doesn't love it even if once every so often!? Bliss Spa is my favourite because you can have a chocolate brownie whilst your feet are being soaked and scrubbed to perfection, you can buy gift cards here.
Cowshed is amazing too and I always walk out with shiny lacquered toes and nails and you can buy Vouchers online too.

11) LUXURIOUS HAND WASHES - Once again, something you wouldn't necessarily go out and spend on but how lovely to get a fabulous, luxe hand wash that smells and feels delicious sitting by your sink. I love the AESOP xxx, it has micro granules that gently exfoliate your skin and feels like such a  treat. Every time I go to Ottolenghi for a tea I make a trip to the bathrooms just to indulge in the free hand wash! AESOP Reverence Aromatique Hand Wash £27

12) PYJAMAS - A great gift for a friend or a sister is chic, cool nightwear like this J.Crew men's style shirt. My friend last year gave me the J.Crew Vintage pajama set £95.00 and I loved it, it was such a treat. If you live in the USA you can even get them monogrammed which makes it that more fabulous. J.Crew Nightshirt £68.00

13) AN ERES ONE PIECE - I never think to wish for something summery at Christmas, and come summer there is always something I desperately want, so this year I beg to differ. Think about all those lovely things you desire in the summer: a fabulous pair of flats, a great beach bag or a chic beach towel and add them to those lists. It will be extra special to save them up and pull them out next season. It has been my dream for years to have an Eres one piece swimsuit, they are excruciatingly expensive but are a classic staple and last a lifetime. My favourite style is in the Les Essentiels collection and it's called Pirate. In red please! www.eresparis.com

14) COSY SLIPPERS - Duddy? No, dreamy. I had this style a few years ago and it's like heaven for your feet. Try to belive.  Lounger Moccasins £59.00 www.celticandco.co.uk

15) LUXURIOUS BODY SCRUB - I always love giving beauty products to my girlfriends and sisters for Christmas, they also make the perfect stocking filler like a fab crazy colour nail varnish (Chanel packaging always makes an impression) or a fabulous red lipstick (the Nars range my fav). I also love bath, body and face oils which are so pampering, but for something a bit different I would opt for a sumptuous body scrub like one from the Laura Mercier range with amazing smells. Creme Brulee Sugar Scrub LAURA MERCIER £36.00icon

Florence outlets: the results

Stella McCartney jumper, Cos trousers, Karen Millen shoes, Other Stories bag
And here is the (main) result of my outlets trip: Stella McCartney check jumper worn with black cigarette trousers and leopard print shoes. Also, if you haven't seen it yet, the January issue of Red is out. It's my first issue since coming back from maternity and I've done a special on wardrobe basics.

By coincidence in my Style Essay, styled by the lovely Alex Steadman from www.thefrugality.com and shot by www.candicelake.com, I wear a check jumper too. I have a little obsession with checks at the moment, especially when worn with fabulous jewellery and contrasting prints. Dress them up rather than down!

Florence Outlets: the hunt

In the changing rooms at Stella McCartney in the fab check parka
Those of you that follow me on Instagram know that after  almost a year after going last time, last week I finally returned to the outlets. I left Greta in the capable hands of grandmother and great-grandmother and together with my little sister we departed on a 6 hour shopping trip to the outlets. We event ventured out of our usual two stops route, start with Prada and the onto The Mall to go and check out the Celine factory (turns out it doesn't exist).

Prada skirt and jumper
Prada was a bit disappointing, I was on the hunt for something a bit unexpected a pair of crazy shoes, a fabulous accessory or a wow skirt, but this time the selection was a bit safe and all most of it still didn't feel like a bargain. I was a little bit tempted by a red skirt, but then decided that it was too expensive (180 euros not worth it). Then I tried a really beautiful black embellished coat (it was a show piece and a bit too small) and a jewelled pink skirt, but again at 450 euros it was certainly not a bargain. So we left Prada empty handed.

It's all about embellishment at Prada
At The Mall I found a completely new layout. They now have a very well stocked Prada store (if not better stocked), where both my sister and I bought two ridiculously fabulous faux fur blue clutches for 30 euros each.

When I got back home Greata wanted to stroke them thinking they were a toy...

Greta with my Prada clutch
There's also a much larger Marni and a whole Gucci building and if you are lookingg to blow the budget or for bridal/partt/evening wear Valentino had the most amazing stuff.

Valentino shoes
But it's in Stella Mc.Cartney that I could have gone mad. First of all they had the cutest selection of kids clothes at super affordable prices, and then the womenswear collection they were selling was one of my favourite of all times. I wanted to buy everything! Sadly they didn't have half of my sizes so in the end I only made one investment purchase of a great jumper (150 euros).

The one that got away.. too small
Check WIT tomorrow to see part two of this post and see me wearing my new Stella jumper!

THE WIT RAFFLE with £600 to spend at Jimmy Choo

Somerset by Alice Temperley Cap Sleeve Sequin Dress £299
Next week I'm away on holiday so I thought I would leave you with a fabulous opportunity to win a  £600 voucher to spend at (drum rolls...) Jimmy Choo and a little appeal, so please read on..

On Wednesday night I got to dress up in full length gown from Alice Temperley to go a fabulous charity ball for Sugarplum Children. Sugarplum Children is a website and fund raising initiative set up by Jubie Wigan whose daughter Aliena was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of just two and a half. Jubie is a dear friend of a childhood friend of mine, we all became mummies around the same time, so this charity means a lot to me when I think of the poor children who suffer from this life-threatening condition. Despite what some people think, type 1 diabetes is not caused by lifestyle choices, and those affected by the condition rely on insulin via injections or a pump and finger-prick blood tests every day. The majority, who are on injections, have approximately 3600 needles going into their tiny bodies every single year just to stay alive... You can read a little more about Sugarplum Children in my Red magazine blog and see me wearing the beautiful Sugarplum pendant designed exclusively by Annoushka to raise money for the charity.

Crafted in 18ct Rose Gold and set with 0.23ct diamonds and sold on a 43cm Rose Gold Chain, 200 pounds of every sale of this pendant will go directly to JDRF to support the brave little stars that are children dealing with Type 1 Diabetes.£995
It was an emotional night but also very fun one. At the dinner my husband bought me two raffle tickets from the Sugarplum tree and guess what I won? A £600 voucher to spend in Jimmy Choo, how appropriate! However,  since I certainly do not need another pair of shoes and this cause is very close to my heart I would love to give a WIT reader the opportunity to win the voucher, so girls get your cheque books out!

HOW TO ENTER THE RAFFLE

Simply send an email to wearingittoday@gmail.com specifying how much you would like to donate to the charity and I will provide you with payment details and your very own unique number to enter the raffle.

All entries must be made by 6pm Sunday December the 1st

Whilst I film her, Greta will pick up one ticket from a hat and I will announce the winner on Monday December the 2nd.

Good luck and please be generous.. remember this Christmas you could have a £600 voucher to spend at Jimmy Choo under your Christmas tree!

WIT mama Friday: the perfect week end coat

Zara sunglasses and boots, Whistles coat, HM jeans
Ever since I went to Paris for the week end and I felt slightly "off" in my khaki green parka, I've been looking for the perfect week end coat that is pratcical but also a bit sleek and just right for the city. The sort of thing you put on a Saturday morning for a walk in the park, brunch with friends, the zoo but that also looks cool on a week end break without the kids.  I must have tried on something like 15 jackets in the likes of Maje, Sandro and Iro.. but there was always an element I didn't like: an exposed zip, black and not navy, cheap looking fur, too pricey, unflattering fit.. and the list goes on. Well,  last week I found the perfect jacket in Whistles and bought it within two minutes from trying it on. It ticked every box, minus one but hey something's gotta give!
  • It's navy
  • Padded and very warm (tried and tested)
  • Sheepskin looks expensive
  • Hooded
  • Deep pockets
  • Flattering length just covering bum
  • A bit fitted so doesn't swamp you
  • Leather sleeves make it cool and a bit fashiony
  • It's gorgeous but not precious, which means I will wear it
  • Good price point
Only box it didn't tick is that it's not waxed or waterproof. I'll bring a brolly!

Whistles Cooper Leather Sleeve Navy Coat£275.00
P.S.  Dearest WIT readers, Wearing It Today will be on holiday all of next week as Greta and I go on a little trip back to Italy to visit the family. See you on the first week of December when I return with WIT's very own Christmas Gift Guide.. do NOT miss!

My Beauty Stash

There are few things I like to talk about as much as fashion, and make up and beauty would be two of them. So I was delighted to be asked take part in a wonderfully nosey feature for Get The Gloss called My Beauty Stash, which focuses on industry insiders beauty cabinets, especially since I got to chat  to Red's former Beauty Director Rosie Green (the most knowledgeable beauty editor I know) . Whilst I was spilling the beans on my beauty obsessions, Greta was charming the hairdresser and getting a little styling session of her own, it was a lovely day and I even got my personal Rosie Green skin care recommendations, so hope you will enjoy the feature as much as I did shooting it. Read a little preview below and visit www.getthegloss.com for the full lowdown.

Rosie Green met with fashion editor and style blogger Laura Fantacci to find out what beauty secrets lay within her beauty stash.

Mixing Italian flair with London edge Laura Fantacci’s Wearing It Today blog is the ultimate fash-piration. Rosie Green gets an access all areas pass on her beauty haul and finds she likes products. A LOT.

What are your can’t-survive-without skincare products?
"I’m obsessed with my skin feeling 100% clean. I like to wash my face in the shower using either Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, £27, or Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, £13.25. Both are brilliantly non-drying and remove my eye make-up easily too. Then I use a couple of drops of SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 serum, £59, to give my skin plumpness.  It’s expensive, but my last bottle went from June to September.  I also use their Daily Sun Defense, SPF 20, £27."

"I love using a face oil in the evening. It feels like a warm, nurturing hug after a long day. My favourite is Vaishaly Night Nourisher, £75. For facemasks I love Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque, £31.90, which is brilliantly cooling in the summer (I keep it in the fridge).  In the winter I love Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask, £32.90. I’ll use Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser, £35.60, about once every two weeks, really massaging it in.  You’re a little red straight afterwards, but the next day you really glow."

And give us the lowdown on your hair?
"I had super long hair, but after I had my daughter I felt ready for a change. I discovered George and Sally Northwood at Josh Wood Atelier, who now cut and lighten it.  I sit there for six hours and I faint every time I get the bill but it is worth it. I’m not fussy about shampoo. I use one called Mustela Baby Shampoo, £7.50, which I buy from a French pharmacy for my daughter. I don’t use conditioner, but rough dry it with salt spray - the Lavett  & Chin Sea Salt Texturizing Mist, £25. It looks better if I sleep on it damp."

Hat season

Comptoirs de Cotonnier jacket, Isabela Marant HM skirt, Other Stories bag, Zara boots.
My theory is that as long as your head, neck and torso are warm you can sort of survive sock-less in the winter (for short spans of time at least!), yet I can't live without a hat in the cold British winter. I wear one most days and the only style that looks any decent on me (I'm not a hat person) is the classic pom pom beanie. I bought my navy wool one last year in Florence from a random shop and would be devastated if I lost it, lots of you have asked me where to find a similar one so here's WIT's edit. Most of them come in a few colours so make sure you look out for your perfect shade and.. the bigger the pom pom the better!

1. Top Shop Fur Pom Cable Beanie £14.00

2. Accessorize Beanie Neon Tribal Geo Beanie £17

3. French Connection Tabitha Bobble Hat £22.00 (also available in green and cream)

4. Eugenia Kim Mimi chunky-knit wool pompom beanie £150

5. Eugenia Kim Rain ribbed knit beanie hat £180

6. Accessorize Crystal Flower Pom Pull On Hat £20.00

7. Accessorize Chunky Beanie £17.00

8. Anthropologie Homeward Beanie £38.00
